The new Phoenix UMT system supersedes older separate AMT, MT, BMT and Long Period MT systems. Differentiation of AMT, MT, BMT and LP-MT is no longer required.

Building on the success of the V5-2000, MTU-5A, MTU-2E, V8 and RXU-3E systems and equipped with Phoenix’s patented SSMT GPS synchronization technology, the MTU-8A, MTU-5C and MTU-5D bring a new level of timing precision, flexibility and scalability of field instrumentation to magnetotellurics.
All 8 channels are full range, DC to 10 KHz in a single recording. Each channel can be configured independently, allowing easy adjustment to suit local signal conditions. Record a near remote with the same instrument at once.
Works with all Phoenix sensors including MTC-150, MTC-180, AMTC-30, MTC-50H, MTC-80H and fluxgates. Mixing different sensor types together in the same recording to get the best out of each sensor’s characteristics. Use a Fluxgate and an MTC-150 together when you want ultra wide band data. The processing software EMpower will automatically identify the sensors and process in a few clicks.
Configure a recording easily with the Configuration Creator; options include continuous 96 KHz (only available in MTU-5D) or 24 KHz sampling rate (Full Waveform Recording) or more classical decimated sampling rate with various patterns.
Continuous high frequency time seriessampling provides high-resolution time series for capturing short EM signal bursts, in contrast to decimated data “windows” that can often miss these short events.
Decimated sampling collects short windows of 24 KHz (or 96 KHz) data along with continuous 150 Hz sampling for calculating lower frequencies. This mode still measures the broadband response up to 10,000 Hz while greatly reducing resulting data sizes.
The Configuration Creator allows selection of the optimum data acquisition pattern for a given target and time available.
